Nov 7-11
Remembrance Day New Brighton School will be holding our Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 10th beginning at 10:00AM. Parents and guests are welcome to attend. Silver donations for the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund will be accepted in classrooms and the office this week and each student will be provided a poppy in advance of our ceremony on Thursday morning. Veterans Food Bank Drive Our students should be very proud of their support for the Veterans Food Bank Drive. Our donation boxes are over-flowing and we expect some more boxes to arrive this week. I also know I’ll be “ducking out” again to see more of the great work and learning like in the images below. School Council and Fundraising Society Meeting You are invited to join us on Wednesday for the New Brighton School Council Meeting (6-7PM) and New Brighton Parent Association (7-8PM) @ New Brighton School. We’ll be sharing a draft of our School Development Plan. What are we Reading? The question this week is – What will we be reading? Our school opened with a well-resourced collection of print resources. We also opened with several thousand dollars of sets of books to assist in direct, guided reading instruction. After seeking student and teacher input we have recently ordered several hundred new books and sets of books to support our students. Basically the new additions to our collection consist of several categories:
